After four exhausting years, the Trump era is officially being brought to a close. Biden has secured the 270 electorates needed to win the presidency and to send the GOP packing. Unfortunately, Trump has left a huge mess for the next administration to clean up. The United States lost 4.7 million jobs during Trump’s term, and that was before the pandemic caused 65 million Americans to depend on the government for unemployment benefits. One of the major repercussions of less work was the immediate removal of entry-level job positions. Many companies entered a hiring freeze, and some even had to let a number of employees go. Because of this, people new to the workforce were left without any options for employment.

Under our next president Joe Biden, there is a plan to bring more jobs to the united states by “building back better”. That is the slogan being used to spur excitement surrounding prospective jobs under the new president’s watch. Many of these jobs will be environmental jobs since the country is planning to re-enlist ourselves to the Paris Climate Accord Agreement. Biden also wants to bring manufacturing back to the US so that we are not as dependent on other countries. Between switching to renewable resources and producing more goods domestically, our country’s job market is about to see significant growth.

With the creation of many companies, there will also be a demand for many designers. Whether it be branding, graphic design, or user experience-related work, there should be no shortage of jobs for designers. Ideally, you may want to coordinate your skills with emerging work. If your portfolio hosts case studies related to the field of renewable energy, this could be your ticket in with the next major green company.
